The Arts
What is art?
Art is humanity's way of incorporating the fear of existence into acceptance. It is also a form of self expression and is connected to a strong sense of emotions.
"The Arts is a diverse range of human activities in creating visual, auditory or performing artifacts expressing the artist's imaginative or technical skill"

Though the quote above symbolizes a solid and broad interpretation of what the arts are, it is still very vague. Therefore, we must ask ourselves, what are the arts?
My mother is a painter and usually tends to paint portraits of flowers and landscape views. With this information, it can be interpreted that she would describe the arts as paint on a canvas which expresses the painters beliefs in colors.
I, on the other hand, am I ballerina. I had to stop for two years after 10 years of dancing nonetheless I returned this year because I truly love the dance as a whole; I adore how it makes us view the human body as far more delicate and fragile while also being very strong. Because of this, I consider ballet and dancing in general as the arts since you let your body expressive every single emotional contained within.

Can you identify a link between your choices, or any cultural or gender bias?
There is a strong sense of cultural bias as my father grew up believing that Europe was far superior to Brazil hence we would always travel during the vacations and appreciate the obsolete parts of the european culture such as the old paintings. In fact, in the seventh grade I presented abou Botticelli and other italian artists and two months later we visited the museums in Italy which made me sabor it more. Because of this, my dad clearly had an influence on how I viewed our present culture and to go against such streams. Therefore, I would return to the classic values of our culture like reading classics such as Anna Karenina, dance ballet and listen to rock and metallic music.
In what ways have your choices expanded your knowledge and insight?
My choices helped me appreciate not only the current focuses on society in the present moment though also the previous ones and how these have helped society develop its core to this present day. It has also opened up my curiousity for the differentiations of activities I love such as dances, music etc.
Do you think these insights count as personal or shared knowledge?
Personal as people have to be open to see and appreciate the varieties of each activity and how it's contributed to society as a whole.
