Alien Invasion Project

In class, we were asked to do a project which involves explaining the ways of knowing and areas of knowledge to aliens with the use of famous locations and monuments in Brasilia. Nonetheless, like the game of Crazy Captain, we were not permitted to use language, in order to ensure the aliens received a better understanding of the areas of knowledge and ways of knowing.

Challenges

Since my group and I were not permitted to use language to communicate an idea to the aliens, the project became rather difficult. We wanted to show certain areas of knowledge in which we didn’t know what images to use to express them along with connecting it to Brasilia. Somehow, my group managed to overcome this challenge. An example would be history where we put images of buildings when they were being constructed and their appearance in the current moment. Therefore, in order to attempt to connect the images to each area of knowledge or ways of knowing, my group and I used a variety of images which represented the same idea for the viewers to comprehend how it connects.

TOK connections

The relation to the Theory of Knowledge is very evident since the objective of the project is to express the areas of knowledge and ways of knowing without the use of language. The AOKs and WOKs are found on the TOK diagram which describes the knower’s awareness of life.
